If you've been reading my blog for a while you can't not have noticed that I've had a little obsession with Rihanna ever since I saw her on tour in July, just a few days before my birthday. It was one of the best presents ever. She was one of my favorite pop stars when I was younger, but the hype died out for some time,. What happened is that I grew up, my taste changed, or better said - I started understanding that I don't need to like what's on the radio. From then on I accepted and embraced my rather alternative taste in music.
And then she put out the Anti album and it was unlike anything else I've listened to before.
I started respecting her so much as an artist from then on. When I saw she was going on tour I almost couldn't find anybody to go with me, which by the principle of wanting the things you can't have only made me want to go more. And when I finally saw live, my obsession became official. And it's all documented here.
Also by now you probably know about my obsession with Rihanna's Puma collection. How can this woman be so good at so many things?! All of her designs are amazing. Also, luckily for young teen girls like me, they're somewhat affordable, which means that I don't have to spend my days drooling over the screen and and stupidly crying about how much my life "sucks because I can't get what I want".
So far I have five pairs of Fenty shoes. It sounds like a lot when I say it like that... and actually, it is a lot when I think about it! Nevertheless I also want her sneaker boots and basically everything else from her Puma collab but I think for now the five pairs should be enough to feed my obsession.
I remember when we still lived in Sofia and Rihanna first became big - about six to seven years ago! She performed for free at a central public square in my own city and I missed it. Since then I always pushed the thought away because I really regretted not going. And I was ten at back then.
Time really flies by, but see - things really do turn out for the better. Her Anti tour was amazing and I think I enjoyed it much more than I would have enjoyed her music and attitude at the fragile age of ten! ... is this an appropriate place to insert a "Started from the bottom now we're here" quote...
Now that we went down memory lane, let's get back to the outfit.
I've talked about how just a few months ago I started developing my own style and started really discovering what I like and don't like. A year ago from now I would have told you the exact opposite, but now I know that I feel best in dark colors. So although I might still wear the occasional colorful top here and there just because I still own those pieces of clothing and they still fit, you'll probably find me dressed quite emo-like on the days where I want to be feeling my best. The Fenty shoes of course are only worthy of me feeling absolutely amazing, so I had to dress accordingly *wink wink*.
I also own the grey velvet colorway of these creepers, and it would have matched the stripes of my t-shirt way better, but something would be missing. If everything about an outfit matches perfectly and goes together so harmoniously, then there is no dynamic there anymore. Something has to keep the eye moving, it has to keep one interested and make them look for longer than just a glance. Tip: Next time pick the second best-matching item to complete an outfit - trust me, you might find the new combo much more intriguing.
Stay tuned for yet another post featuring Fenty shoes. This time I'll be making them more winter appropriate, because let's face it, tiny socks and sneakers are not the most optimal footwear for late December.
